The cross-country team at Western Canada High School has seen great success in the past, and is one that appeals to a wide variety of students. Mr. Wood, head coach of the team for the past 14 years, has helped to create a diverse, focused, and eager team that is continuing to increase in numbers. He believes that the cross-country program should be inclusive; everyone and anyone can participate in the sport. Athletes are encouraged to set personal goals and compete at a level that suits them.

Cross-country is a fun way to achieve personal success, meet new people, and become part of the athletics community. This year’s team started and finished strong. Grade 11 student Madeline Sumner, an athlete to watch, managed to win the intermediate girls category, helping to secure another banner for our school.
