When you run a program that has been in the city finals every year since 2008, you expect continuous success, which is exactly what head coach Ms. Zwicker hopes for this spring.

“This year, we’re focusing on getting back to provincials and getting another shot at Raymond” said Ms. Zwicker (Western lost to Raymond in the provincial finals last year).

With many returning players, who have been developed under the ideas of solid fundamentals, it’s not hard to see great things in this team’s future. Co- Captain Julia Hermanson commented that “our team thrives because we show up to every practice to work hard and because of this, we achieve great things.”

The other captain, Audrey Buston, believes coaching is the difference here at Western, “The coaches are single handedly responsible for building passionate rugby players here, and it’s why our program has been so successful.”

With a team based on fundamentals, leadership and strong coaching, it is hard not to expect continued program success this year and for many years to come.
