2017 Volleyball Information Letter

With a long and illustrious history under its belt with 25 city championships since 1961, Western’s volleyball program this year had a lot to live up to, and the athletes in 2014 did their best to deliver. The Junior Boys and Junior Girls programs each had terrific regular seasons and nearly capped them off with championships before each falling in the Division 1 City Finals. Both teams had several tournament wins, and have solidified a promising future for the volleyball program. The Senior Girls had a successful year, making it to Division 1 quarterfinals and the Senior Boys finished 9-1 in the regular season and eventually finished third in the city. As a result of their accomplishment they competed in 4A provincials.
Camaraderie is the core of the program; the captain of the junior girls’ volleyball team, Grace Hardwicke-Browne, mentioned that a significant part of volleyball “is the people you meet,” and that “since you play so much together, you really get to know everyone and basically become best friends.”
